I'm running out of space on my current setup with three 2TB SSDs (Samsung 870 and 970 Evos). I'm looking to add about 6TB more in SSDs because I deal with a lot of music and video files. What are the most reliable brands and products available right now? Also, would it be wise to invest in HDDs for backup, or what's the best way to back up several terabytes of data?

Considering your needs, a NAS (Network Attached Storage) could be a great option, especially if you're okay managing another system. Just keep an eye on your budget and performance requirements. If NAS isn’t an option for you, I’d suggest getting some 4TB SSDs until you run out of ports, and then swapping out your existing 2TB drives. Just make sure to stick with reputable brands like WD, Crucial, Samsung, or Kioxia for reliability. For backups, external USB storage works, but for larger volumes, a NAS or using a cloud service like Backblaze would be the best bet.
A NAS sounds like a solid choice if you have the budget for it! It allows centralized storage and easy access. When it comes to software, you might want to look into Synology or QNAP systems which have nice user interfaces and support various RAID configurations. Also, don’t be shy to check out community forums or the official websites for good tips and setups.
Or you could just grab one of those mystery storage units! You never know what kind of treasures you might uncover in there, just a thought! 😂
