What Causes the Rainbow Effect on My Dad’s Old Amazon Fire Tablet?

My dad has an old Amazon Fire tablet that's showing a rainbow effect on the screen when he tilts it. I'm not sure if this is due to a polarized cover, a missing polarized coating, or if it indicates a deeper internal issue. I'm looking for some advice on what steps we can take next to troubleshoot this problem.

A good first step is to try a factory reset on the tablet. If the rainbow effect persists after the reset, it might point to a hardware issue. Unfortunately, if it's out of warranty, fixing it could be more trouble than it's worth since you'd likely need to replace the whole motherboard, which could cost as much as getting a used working device.

I appreciate the input! I'm just trying to help my dad out. He's retired now and has been experimenting with fixing old tech, but he doesn’t have much experience. Thanks for the advice!
