What CPU Should I Choose to Pair with a 9070 XT for Gaming?

I'm building a new gaming PC featuring the 9070 XT graphics card, and I'm aiming for a solid gaming experience primarily at 2K resolution. I enjoy playing FPS games, survival crafting titles, and even some World of Warcraft. In my search for the best CPU options, I've noticed that the 9800X3D, 7800X3D, and 7600X3D are often recommended. However, I rarely see the 7600X3D mentioned in discussions. I'm considering a good Microcenter bundle that includes this CPU, but I'm curious about the community's thoughts on whether it's a good fit. Ultimately, I want to ensure that the CPU I pick won't bottleneck the GPU in the games I play. Thanks in advance for your insights!

The 7600X3D should work well for your setup. It's not widely mentioned because it's a Microcenter exclusive, so only those near a store are likely to buy it.

At 2K resolution, you’re likely looking at negligible differences between the 9800X3D and 7800X3D, or even the 7600X3D. If you want thorough insight, check out Steve's video on Gamer's Nexus, which dives deep into the 7600X3D's performance. Remember, at that resolution, the GPU will typically be the limiting factor, not the CPU, though a better CPU will give you a slight performance boost.

If you're not into highly competitive gaming, any AM4 X3D chip will serve you well. For AM5, the 7600X is a solid choice, but I’d recommend the 7800X3D for better assurance against bottlenecks if your budget allows.

Good choice with that bundle! The 7600X3D isn’t often discussed since Microcenter is not available to everyone, but it’s a solid CPU.
