I recently built my PC about two years ago and got quite a decent deal on it. However, I'm starting to feel like my gaming performance could be better, and I suspect my CPU might be the issue, but I'm not entirely sure. Here are my specs:
- Current CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (6 cores)
- RAM: 32GB DDR4 at 2133 MT/s (Quad Channel)
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti
I'm also clueless about how to check my motherboard model.
Bonus Question: I'm considering adding more storage without spending too much. What type of SSD would you recommend?

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is a fantastic choice if you can find it at a good price. It pairs excellently with your RTX 3060 Ti. Just be cautious as it's sometimes hard to find without overpriced listings.
Monitor your CPU while gaming. If any of your cores are consistently hitting around 80% usage, it might be time to upgrade your CPU. If not, you might just need a better GPU instead.
I’d recommend checking out the Ryzen 5 5600X or 5700X as well if the 5800X3D is out of your budget. They also work great with your GPU and should give you a performance boost without breaking the bank.
What’s so special about the 5800X3D? I see a lot of people recommending it.
First things first, consider enabling XMP for your RAM; running it at 2133 MT/s is a bit slow. There’s a chance your RAM can perform faster if configured properly!
Good call! I didn’t realize I should check that. How do I enable XMP?
Your RAM speed could definitely hold you back. Look into enabling XMP in your BIOS. DDR4 is good, but you might want to maximize its potential for better performance.
I’ll try that! Thanks for the tip.

That’s true, but I’ve seen some reasonable options online. Just gotta watch for the price!
