I'm looking for recommendations on laptops that run Linux well and have a long-lasting battery. I've heard a lot of people talk about ThinkPads because they're easy to repair, but I'm a bit hesitant about choosing the newer models. My goal is to use it for about 4-8 hours daily for schoolwork. Any advice on what I should consider when making my decision would be much appreciated!

For the best battery performance, I'd recommend going for the latest Intel chips, like the Ultra series or H series. These tend to give you 6-8 hours or more. Check out some links for Linux-compatible laptops that can help with your search!
From my experience, my 2009 MacBook Pro with Linux Mint runs about 6 hours on casual use, but I did swap out the battery recently. It’s a solid choice if you’re open to older models!
I have a ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 (AMD) running on Debian with XFCE, and it’s been working smoothly for my development tasks! I get all-day battery life with WiFi on and various activities. It definitely works out of the box!
A lot depends on the CPU, screen size, and battery capacity when it comes to how long a laptop will last on a charge. If you pick a newer model with efficient hardware, you should get a decent battery life!

Got it, thanks for clarifying!
