Hey everyone! I'm about to buy the components for my new gaming PC, totaling slightly over 2300 euros. Here's what I'm planning: CPU: Intel i7 14700K (€344), GPU: ASUS TUF RTX 5070 Ti 3x OC (€1020), Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z790-F WiFi (€274) – some say it's overkill, but I prefer not going lower than an MSI Tomahawk. For RAM, I'm going with 2x16 GB G.SKILL DDR5-6000 CL30 RGB (€117). The storage will be a 2 TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD (€164). I'm still undecided on the PSU but looking at a be quiet! straight/pure power 12, with a price difference of €60 for platinum or gold (about €165/€105). The cooler I picked is the be quiet! Dark Rock Elite (€101) and the case is a be quiet! Pure Base 500 FX (€147). I still need to choose thermal paste. I don't plan on overclocking much, but I wonder if I might want to in the future. I've also considered the AMD 7800X3D, but it seems like the performance gain isn't significant for the cost. What are your thoughts? Thanks a lot!

The 7800X3D is definitely worth considering! It usually pulls less wattage in gaming, plus it has better performance compared to the Intel's i7. You can use pretty affordable cooling solutions with it, and it's also got a good upgrade path with AM5. Also, the Samsung drive might not provide much benefit for gaming specifically—you can save quite a bit with a lower-tier SSD. As for the PSU, you might need less wattage than you think; a solid 750W PSU would be fine! Just make sure it's from a reputable brand like be quiet!
Your build is looking solid; minor tweaks could save you some cash, though. For instance, that cooler is nice, but an AIO could provide better temps with less hassle. Just make sure your case supports the AIO. And hey, the Pure Base 500 FX is cool if you like the aesthetic, but there are plenty of cases that also offer better airflow for less money. Lastly, if you're in for some serious overclocking, you might want a more robust motherboard, which could be a worthwhile investment down the line.
Good points! If you’re considering the AIO, the Arctic Liquid Freezer is also a great budget pick and offers excellent cooling.
Honestly, you might want to reconsider that i7 for gaming. It's pretty powerful, but the gaming performance might not justify the price, especially when you could go for an AMD chip like the 7800X3D, which is fantastic for gaming and could save you some cash. Also, that motherboard seems like overkill; something like a less expensive MSI would work just fine. Your RAM is cool, but RGB isn't necessary if you're just looking for value. Oh, and I’d suggest looking for a cheaper SSD too; you don't really need the 990 Pro for gaming load times. Plus, you should definitely get a good PSU but you can save some bucks there too with a gold rating instead of platinum. Overall, lots of your choices seem a bit pricey compared to what's out there.
Yeah, I agree! If you're gaming, the Ryzen chip is better optimized and gives you a smoother experience. And you can find a great PSU that doesn't break the bank.
Just a heads up, the PSU choice is very important. Don't just look at wattage rating—check the quality of the PSU too. Bronze can be okay, but getting a Gold rating wouldn't hurt either. There are plenty of options that will be more reliable for your setup.
I appreciate the guidance! I definitely want to ensure my system runs smoothly.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely look into the AMD CPU for efficiency. It's good to know I can save on the SSD too.
