What GPU Should I Upgrade to for Better 1080p Gaming?

I currently have an Intel i5 11400F processor, an NVIDIA 4060 Ti with 8GB of VRAM, and 16GB of RAM, all connected to a 1080p 165Hz monitor. I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card because the 8GB VRAM is starting to feel insufficient. While my current setup runs most games on decent settings, I'm experiencing issues with some titles like Arena Breakout Infinite, which occasionally lags and drops fps. I'm not looking to replace anything else since the rest of my system isn't too old. Can anyone recommend an effective GPU upgrade?

First off, what's your budget for the upgrade? That'll help narrow down your options. If you're considering a 5060 Ti or 5070, those could be solid choices depending on how much you're willing to spend.

I'm genuinely interested—what games have you found challenging to run at 1080p? Is the lag mainly due to texture settings, or is it other factors? I’ve been curious about the newer titles.

Just a heads up, the current 8GB won't hold up forever, especially if you're aiming for 165Hz gaming. If you want something that can future-proof your setup, going for more VRAM is essential.

Would the 5070 be sufficient? I’ve heard it only has 12GB, but I'm trying to balance price and performance.

Honestly, if you're gaming at 1080p, you might not even need to spend on a new GPU right away. I've got an older setup with a 3050, and I still play at 1080p/120Hz on high settings without major issues. If you're looking for minor fps gains, invest in another 16GB RAM stick to help reduce stuttering instead.

Honestly, you might want to try adjusting your in-game settings before you commit to a new GPU. Lowering textures and ray tracing can really help you maintain a decent frame rate on 1080p. Even upgrading to a 16GB version of the 4060 Ti might not give a huge boost. But if that's not the path you want to take, the 5070 Ti or AMD's 9060 XT with 16GB VRAM could be good options. Just remember, 4080 is a bit overboard for 1080p gaming.
