I'm working with an x370 K5 motherboard, which currently doesn't support my Ryzen 3 3100 unless I update the BIOS. I bought a cheap A6-9500E APU to help with the update. However, I just noticed that the BIOS version I want to upgrade to doesn't support the Bristol Ridge APU. My question is whether I can still proceed with the update and then swap the CPU, or if that poses a risk of bricking my motherboard. Thanks for your insights!

If the new BIOS doesn't support your CPU, your PC simply won’t boot up after the update. So, you should definitely verify compatibility before you proceed.
Best approach is to update the BIOS first, then remove the current CPU, and install the new one afterward. That way, you minimize the risk of issues.

Just a heads up, that could work, but make sure the new CPU is definitely supported by the BIOS you’re updating to!
