I've got an iPad Pro (10.5-inch, model #A1701) that I bought in November 2017, and I've been paying $5.99 plus tax for AppleCare+ every month. Recently, when I tried to get battery service through Apple Support, I found out that my iPad is considered "Vintage" and isn't eligible for hardware support anymore. If that's the case, what's the point of keeping AppleCare+ if I'm paying for coverage I can't use? Shouldn't Apple have notified me when my device became Vintage so I could have canceled my subscription? I feel like I'm owed a refund for the months I've continued to pay since going Vintage. Has anyone else faced this dilemma?
*UPDATE:* I talked to Apple Support, and they said I could visit the Genius Bar. They're supposed to help me with an "override code" to replace my old iPad with a new one. I'll report back on how it goes, but I'm still curious about this whole AppleCare+ situation with Vintage products in general.

It's a bit tricky! When you take your Vintage device to the Genius Bar, they will document your issue and run some tests. But don't expect a straightforward replacement; they might just give you a workaround to contact senior support for next steps. The thing is, since your iPad is no longer made, they can't really just order replacements for those specific models. But don't lose hope; many users have gotten replacements that are similar in specs.
Right! It's possible they’ll just guide you to speak with senior support. Fingers crossed! You might come out with a nice upgrade.
What typically happens is called an advanced replacement. Once they confirm your device is Vintage, Apple usually cancels the coverage, tells you which replacement model is comparable, and then you ship your old device to them. It might take a few weeks, but eventually, you'll get a new device that you can add AppleCare+ to as if it’s new. It's a hassle, but many have reported positive outcomes from it!
I've heard of others in your situation getting replacements when they have Vintage devices. One friend swapped her old MacBook for a brand new one! Just beware, the process usually happens over the phone, so be patient with it.

I had a similar experience. After a technician looked at my Vintage MacBook, I was able to get a newer model after some discussions. Just keep your expectations in check!
