Hey everyone! I'm getting ready to sell my laptop and I want to do a full system wipe to reset it to factory settings. A friend mentioned that it'll revert back to the original OS, which is Windows 10, but I thought it just wipes everything but keeps the current OS, which is Linux Mint. Can anyone help me clear this up? By the way, I know the Windows product key is stored on the motherboard, but will it go back to that version after wiping?

Just so you know, if you wipe the current OS, it typically won't keep Mint unless you choose to reinstall it. So make sure you've backed everything up and have your installation media ready if you want to set it up again.
Honestly, it's best to wipe the current OS and mention in your listing that it comes with the Windows serial key. Windows 10 support is running out soon, but buyers can still reinstall if they have the key. If they want help, you could even install it for them before shipping!
I'd recommend using the BIOS utility to securely erase the SSD. After that, you can install a fresh copy of Windows. The license key should be in the BIOS, so you can write it down for peace of mind.
