Why is my RTX 3060 performing like my old 980?

I just installed a Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 Twin Edge 12GB and ran a benchmark test, but it shows performance results equivalent to an older GPU, the 980. I've taken the necessary steps like going into safe mode and using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) followed by NVCleanstall to install fresh drivers, yet I'm still seeing poor performance. Is there something I might have missed? Should I be looking for a specific setting to tweak, or is it time to consider returning the card? For context, the new GPU seems to perform worse than the original GTX 1690 that came with my computer, which prompted my investigation into these benchmark results.

Have you tried using GPU-Z? It'll show you a ton of detailed info about your GPU, like the core specs. I'm wondering if you might have accidentally ended up with a used card from someone else. Just a thought!

Nope, I bought it new from a Microcenter.
