What is the best low-cost tech stack for hosting a Postgres API?

I'm working on a side project where I need to set up an API that allows users to query data through endpoints. The API will have an authentication system so that users can only access data if they're logged in. The only actions that will modify the data are user sign-ups and updating details—everything else will just allow users to read information. I'm handling a Postgres database with around 6 GB of data from a dump and need a tech stack that's affordable but still provides decent performance. I have experience with Node.js and PHP, but I'm not sure which would be better for cost-efficiency and performance. What tech stack do you recommend for this kind of project?

For a low-cost and performant setup, consider using a Postgres database with a Swift/Vapor app in front. It provides strict type checking and has a small footprint, making it an efficient choice for your resources.

Totally agree! Just keep in mind that balancing low cost and performance can be tricky. What you're looking for is good enough performance for your use case, right?

You might want to check out Supabase—it offers Postgres hosting and comes with built-in auth features, which could save you time and money.
