I've been using Windows for years but I'm ready to switch to Linux. I'm looking for a stable distribution that supports hacking tools, is safe, open source, and not too difficult to use. I'd prefer to avoid anything like Arch Linux for now. Can anyone recommend a solid option that fits my needs?

If you want to experiment without impacting your system, try out some distributions in your browser with Distrosea. For your hacking needs, you could consider Kali Linux, but for just getting started, Fedora or Linux Mint might be easiest while you get used to the environment.
Check out Zorin or Fedora for a good starting point. Both are user-friendly and stable, making them perfect for transitioning from Windows.
You can't go wrong with any of the mainstream distributions. Just pick one, install it, and see how you like it. They're free, so feel free to try out different ones if you want!

Kali comes with a lot of built-in tools, but consider using Debian itself for more safety and stability. You can always install the specific tools you need without the clutter.
