What Monitoring Solution is Best for Our Setup?

Hey everyone, we're currently working with a half-finished Zabbix installation, but it feels like we might need to start from scratch since our team doesn't have much Zabbix experience. We're managing around 250 hosts, primarily Nutanix clusters, alongside various hardware nodes, Rubrik, switches, and a mix of Windows and Linux servers. What we're looking for in a monitoring solution is something that has a low learning curve so we can get productive quickly, requires minimal maintenance, offers good visibility into Nutanix and Rubrik, and integrates smoothly with Jira Service Management for handling tickets. I used PRTG in the past but want to explore other options before making a commitment. So far, I'm considering Logicmonitor, Datadog, and Checkmk. Any recommendations?

Honestly, if you want something simple to maintain given your infrastructure, Zabbix might still be the best choice. Just keep pushing forward with your cloud transition and you might find it easier to manage!

We use CheckMK for a setup similar to yours, and it works really well for both Windows and Linux. Not sure about Nutanix and Rubrik, though, but it should be manageable.

If budget isn’t a concern, my recommendation order from the recent demos I’ve done is: 1. Zabbix, 2. Entuity, 3. Datadog, 4. PRTG, 5. Dynatrace, and 6. LogicMonitor. Stay away from LogicMonitor.

I hear good things about Nagios XI as well, despite not using it myself. Might be worth considering!

Icinga has a Jira integration and offers some automation features that could cut down on maintenance efforts over time. It’s not the easiest to learn initially, but we’re improving the getting started docs, which should help you get a working installation quickly. You can always dive deeper for more customization later on!

Thanks Bob! That definitely sounds promising. I appreciate the heads up on the docs – will check them out!
