Hey everyone! I work in the finance sector, specifically on the operational data side, and I've developed a growing interest in programming. I initially looked into web development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript through The Odin Project. However, I'm wondering if I might be better off learning SQL and Python instead. What do you all think would be the most beneficial for my career? Thanks for any advice!

I'd recommend starting with SQL and a strongly typed language like Java or C#. Once you're comfortable, you could dive into Python later on. It'll give you a solid foundation.

Both pathways you mentioned are great for getting into programming! Do you have a specific project or type of application you want to create? That could help steer your choices a bit more.

I initially wanted to focus on web development, but I've read that with Python and SQL I could automate tasks relevant to my job. I'm planning to build an app that could pull data from multiple systems to save time since we currently have to check around 8-10 systems manually.
