Hey folks, I recently graduated from a 2-year vocational program in .NET programming and have been on the job hunt since last summer. The job market here in Sweden is quite tough, and I've only managed to land one interview so far. I'm looking for advice on what projects I can work on to enhance my resume and portfolio. Right now, I'm considering creating my own HTTP server to learn more about TCP/IP since I find it really interesting. Do you think this would be a good idea or do you have other suggestions? Thanks!

I feel you! I also graduated into a tough job market. I’ve been focusing on web and app development as it’s crucial these days. Consider building something that could even generate some income. Networking is key too, especially if you want a junior dev role in the near future.
I'm currently working on some practical tooling. If you're interested in collaborating, let me know!
Building an API could be a great idea! How about creating a mini social media platform? You could implement features like user accounts, posts, comments, and user follow functionality. It’s a good way to learn and showcase your skills.
Another idea is to create something that works with an existing API. For instance, building a Discord or Reddit bot could be really fun and educational!
I have a different idea! How about developing a cool web app that allows users to upload movies and generate subtitles in various languages? You could set it up with different pricing plans and make it multilingual. Start with quick vibe coding, then refine it for security and bugs. It could show your ability to enhance initial designs. Plus, you'll get to showcase a mix of creativity and technical skills on your resume!

Absolutely! Projects related to apps and single page applications (SPA) are great. While diving deep into low-level TCP/IP stuff is interesting, it might not be the most practical for landing a job.
