Hey everyone! I bought some RAM last year to stay ahead of rising prices, and now that I'm ready to build my new setup, I've noticed that the packaging for the RAM is already opened, even though it was sold as new from a well-known retailer. I'm curious about what potential issues or dangers there might be if the RAM sticks have been accessed or tampered with. Any insights would be appreciated! Thanks!

I once purchased RAM that had been used for about 8 years in someone else's PC before I got it. It was a bit of a gamble, but it ran flawlessly for me. If you received opened RAM when you expected new, a discount should have been part of the deal.
Honestly, the risks are nearly the same as if the RAM were brand new. RAM typically either works or it doesn't; the fact that the box was already opened really doesn’t mean much. I frequently use both new and used RAM, and it’s usually one of the safer components to buy.
RAM is generally quite reliable, so the fact that the box is opened shouldn't change that guarantee of performance.
If they work, they work! The only real risk is if they don’t function properly or if the product was swapped out for something lesser. It's pretty much like getting an unopened package—definitely returnable if it's bothering you.
If you're able to return them, I think the only risk is wasting some time testing them, only to find they don’t work for whatever reason. But if they’re fine, then it’s not really a huge issue.
