What should I do about a failing RAM stick?

I've been having issues with one of my G.Skill Trident Royal RAM sticks (16 GB), which is around 6 years old. I'm running into errors when testing it with MEMTEST86. I believe it's 3200 MHz. Since it seems hard to find single sticks for sale, I've already ordered a new set from Corsair—specifically, the Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600MHz C18 UDIMM. I'm wondering what configuration I should use moving forward: should I run all three sticks together, just the two new ones, or mix and match them? Also, if I go with just the two new ones, what should I do with the extra stick since I only have one desktop?

Have you checked with G.SKILL for a warranty? A lot of memory brands offer lifetime warranties, and they might replace the faulty stick for you. Corsair recently did that for me when I had an issue last month.

Didn't even consider this--thanks so much!

It's best to go with just the two new sticks to avoid any compatibility issues. You could sell the extra old stick, or keep it as a backup in case you need to troubleshoot in the future.
