Why won’t my headphones work with my new gaming PC?

I just finished building my first gaming PC, but I'm having trouble with my earbuds. When I plug them into the case, it recognizes that they're connected, but I can't hear anything. I've made sure to download all the necessary drivers for my motherboard and graphics card. I've already tried changing the output settings to default, uninstalling all drivers, and using both the front and rear connectors. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be going wrong?

Have you tried playing something and adjusting the audio output settings in Windows? Sometimes it shows as connected but is using an incorrect output. Just keep cycling through the options to find the right one.

I tried that but it didn’t solve the issue.
