I've got a 2TB hard drive in an old laptop that's developed over 800 bad sectors. I tried to install Linux Mint on it, but it keeps failing. I'm thinking the bad sectors are to blame since Windows worked fine on it before I wiped it. Are there any options for fixing this or should I just get a new hard drive?

Honestly, the best bet is to get a new disk. Once bad sectors start appearing, they can often lead to more problems down the line. It's not worth the hassle of trying to salvage the old one.
You should back up whatever data you still can and junk the drive. Bad sectors are pretty much spreading like a virus; it's not a good sign for your HDD's health.
While you can find tools in Windows or Linux to mark bad sectors and prevent the OS from using them, it's a temporary solution. The disk might keep developing bad sectors, so be careful with your installs.
