How to Separate Apple IDs Without Losing Data?

Hey everyone, I'm hoping to get some help with a situation I have regarding Apple IDs. My mom and I have been sharing an Apple ID, but it's caused a lot of issues, especially with phone calls and other overlaps. We're looking to switch to separate Apple IDs. The main question is whether I can change the Apple ID on her phone without losing any of her data, contacts, or anything important? It's just her phone that's affected since I have multiple devices tied to our current Apple ID. I've read online that changing Apple IDs might lead to data loss, and I'm worried it could mess up her WhatsApp too. Any advice would be super helpful!

Sharing an Apple ID is risky since it's linked to everything—contacts, photos, purchases, etc. If she switches her Apple ID, she might lose access to a lot of her data. It really isn’t advisable to share one if you're having issues like this. Just a heads-up!

Yeah, I totally see why it would be a hassle. Have you looked into family sharing options? That might let you both keep your data separate while still being connected.
