What should I do about returning my faulty RAM sticks?

I recently purchased two Corsair Vengeance DDR5 CL40 6000MHz RAM sticks for $800, but I think I may have shorted one out while installing them. I'm wondering if I can return them to Amazon within the next week, if there's a chance I can buy just one replacement stick, and if I can still run my system with only one stick installed since I have 32GB.

Hey, you should definitely return it if it doesn't work. The return window is only 30 days, so act fast. As for replacement sticks, prices are high, but you can check if a single one is available. Just remember, you'll be fine running on just one stick for now.

Sorry to hear about the RAM issue! What led you to believe you shorted one out? Was the system powered on during installation?

You can run with just one stick, but keep in mind there might be a bit of a performance hit. It’s definitely worth contacting Corsair about an RMA if you think it’s dead; they usually handle these things without issue.

Honestly, Corsair RAM can act up sometimes, but I wouldn't bet that you actually shorted it. I have had my share of issues with it, too, but usually it's fine. Corsair also offers a lifetime warranty on their RAM, so you might want to consider that instead.

Ethics aside, just return it if it's not working. Amazon has a pretty straightforward return system. Plus, even if you did short it, that’s what warranties are for.
