What Should I Do After Apple Cut My Laptop’s Fan Cable During Repair?

I recently took my laptop in for a battery replacement under AppleCare, and I was told the repair would be done by Friday or Saturday at the latest. However, I found out when I called for an update that the repair tech accidentally cut the fan cable, meaning I now need a whole new fan unit. This is really frustrating because I was hoping to have my laptop back before my trip on Tuesday. Is this a common mistake? What can I ask the store for as a solution? Can they overnight my laptop, offer me a loaner, or provide some form of store credit for the inconvenience?

You might want to check if they can expedite your repair or at least keep you updated on the progress. It really helps to have good communication in situations like this!

It's unfortunate, but accidents like cutting the fan cable do happen sometimes. Those cables are really delicate. While it's good they're fixing it, I get your frustration. You might want to ask them about getting a loaner until yours is ready, especially since your trip is so soon.

If you're in a pinch, you could buy a new MacBook and use Apple's return policy to take it back once your laptop's ready. They give you two weeks to return it, so it could be a quick fix!

Damage during repairs isn't common, but it can happen. If you really need it fixed before your trip, definitely talk to a manager about your options. A loaner might be a stretch since they usually reserve those for business customers, but it's worth asking!

Have you thought about just asking them for a loaner? It's really inconvenient waiting for repairs, and they should try to help out customers in situations like yours.
