What should I do after my laptop got wet in my backpack?

Hey everyone! Today, I had a bit of a mishap. My water bottle opened inside my backpack, and my laptop and charger got damp. Luckily, I noticed it just in time; the laptop was only wet on the bottom where it touches the bag, and I cleaned it up right away. When I got home, I turned it off completely, and it's still in the same position. I put it on a rack with a fan nearby to help dry it out, and I have a borrowed charger that I want to use tomorrow. Is it safe to turn on and use my laptop after about 18 to 19 hours of drying, or should I wait longer?

Sounds like your laptop only got a little wet, which is positive! I always protect mine with a waterproof sleeve when I'm out and about, just in case. You might be fine, but always better to be cautious!

It should be fine. If you can, remove the battery to help with the drying process. Just give it more air circulation and keep it venting down. You can also use some canned air to clear out any remaining moisture. But if you really need it, you should be okay!

Yeah, definitely let it dry as much as possible. Just be cautious when you turn it on.

Good tip about the canned air! Unexpected moisture can be a hassle to deal with.

You should be good to go tomorrow! Just make sure it's totally dry before you power it up.

You're probably in the clear, but if you can, it's a good idea to take it to a shop to check for any corrosion or lingering moisture. Just to be safe!
