I recently removed an M.2 SSD from my gaming laptop, and I'm unsure if I need to take any further steps. I used that SSD primarily for my games, and I'm pretty sure my operating system is installed on the laptop's internal storage. After removing the SSD, my laptop booted to a black screen for about two minutes before it loaded normally. I didn't unplug the battery; I just turned off my laptop and removed the SSD. However, I noticed that the game shortcuts (or widgets) are still on my desktop, even though they can't work without the memory. Is there anything else I should do about this situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Before anything else, it’s helpful to know what you plan to do next with your laptop. Are you looking to optimize it or just use it for school?

I guess I want to debloat it and optimize for school projects.
