What Should I Do After Spilling Coke on My Laptop?

I accidentally spilled Coke on my laptop, specifically on the keyboard and trackpad, and even a bit on the screen. Immediately, I turned it off and propped it upside down on my bed to let any liquid drain out. After drying it with a tissue, I did a quick check and everything seemed to work fine, so I turned it off again and left it upside down. I've kept it off since. I later read online that I should probably clean it with isopropyl alcohol, but since it's working now, is that really necessary? Any advice would be appreciated! For context, I have an HP EliteBook G10 840 notebook running both Linux and Windows.

First off, good job acting quickly! Turning it off and letting it drain was definitely the right move. Even though your laptop is working now, remember that Coke is sticky and can cause corrosion over time. It's best to clean the keyboard and any exposed areas with some isopropyl alcohol, or if you're really worried, consider getting it professionally done later on. In the meantime, keep it off for a while, avoid heavy typing, and make sure to back up any important data just in case. Better to be safe!

I'm a bit worried about any soda that might have seeped inside too. It's working for now, which is great, but I'd rather not risk it later. I also don't really want to take it to a repair shop or spend on a professional clean right now.

Yikes, that situation sounds stressful! I've had water spilled on my laptop a couple of times, and it still works great a year later. Just keep an eye on it and maybe clean it up when you can. You're lucky it's functioning now, so don't panic too much!
