I accidentally spilled liquid metal on the chokes of my motherboard while building a new PC. I've spent the last two hours trying to suck it back up with a syringe, but I'm wondering if it's even worth it or if I should just give up and admit defeat.

As long as the motherboard wasn't powered when the spill happened, you should be okay. Use isopropyl alcohol along with a paper towel and a soft toothbrush to clean the area thoroughly. The key is to make sure there's no residue left, as that could short the motherboard later on. And just a heads-up: if you're not doing custom water cooling, it's safer to stick with regular thermal paste instead of liquid metal due to the risks involved.

Thanks for the advice! I've cleaned most of it up, but I'm using a thin syringe to scrape at the spots I can’t reach. I didn't realize the paste was liquid metal until it was too late!
