Hey everyone! I'm new here and I really need some advice. My phone just fell into water, and I'm not sure what steps I should take to fix it. What should I do first?

If your phone falls in water, the first thing you should do is quickly take it out and turn it off. Then, try to dry it off as best you can—like wrapping it in a towel for a day or two. Some newer phones can handle a little water, but it's always better to be safe!
Exactly! If possible, disconnect the battery right away. Using pure isopropyl alcohol can also help to draw the moisture out. But make sure to remove the towel after a short time since it can get really wet and stop any evaporation.
When in doubt, I just cry a little and start looking for a new phone. It's tough out here!
It really depends on the phone model. For instance, iPhones have had waterproof features for over six years now. Usually, you just take it out of the water, wipe it off, and you're good to go! But if it's not waterproof, you'll want to take more precautions. Check the IP rating to understand how much water resistance your phone has!
Honestly, if my phone fell in the toilet, I'd probably just use tongs to get it out, give it a rinse under clean water, and hope for the best since my current phone has a decent water rating!
I've gone swimming with my last three phones without issue! They can handle it pretty well. Just be sure about your phone's IP rating, though. You've got to keep the charging port and other electronic bits dry, or you could end up with damage later on!
True, but you really do have to double-check the IP rating! Those exposed parts can lead to problems if they're not dried properly before charging.
I don't stress much these days since almost all my phones are water-resistant. I regularly check the seals and replace or upgrade them if they start to fail. So far, I've been lucky—no issues before upgrades!
Why wrap it in a towel? I thought letting it breathe would help the moisture evaporate faster? Also, corrosion can be a huge issue, so I've heard that it might work for a little while, but you could end up with problems later on.
