I'm planning to build a new PC rig focused on 4K gaming, aiming for at least 60FPS, but ideally I want to hit 144+ FPS. I'm unsure what monitor specs I should prioritize, such as screen type, lighting, and size. I'm looking for a monitor that's at least 27" but probably closer to 32" or larger. I've seen my brother's super-wide, curved 59" monitor, and while it looks cool, I think that's a bit too much for me. I'm really looking for specific brand and model recommendations, especially for monitors that support 4K at 144Hz or higher. I'm curious about whether OLED, QLED, or another tech might provide the best picture quality.

For me, HDR1000+ certification is crucial at this price point. I don't necessarily think you have to go OLED—I actually prefer miniLEDs since they avoid the risk of burn-in. If I had the option, I would pick a 1440p monitor with HDR 1000 over a 4K display without HDR. It seriously enhances the detail in the games you play. Just make sure your PC can handle the 4K load; even high-end cards like the 5090 struggle sometimes!
If you’re going for 4K, I definitely recommend considering an OLED monitor. They provide sharp images with vibrant colors. Just keep in mind that most OLED panels come from Samsung or LG, so compare the features and prices of those brands to make the best choice.

I’m building my rig with a 5080, but maybe I need to reconsider if even a 5090 isn't a sure thing for my goals. I might aim for 1440p with HDR and 144+ FPS instead. That might help save some cash on both the monitor and the GPU.
