I'm looking for advice on which Linux distribution to install on my old Acer Aspire 7750 laptop. It currently has Windows 7, but I want to use it for experiments and to learn more. Here's the system info: it has an AMD C-50 processor, 2GB of RAM, and it's 64-bit. The laptop works fine despite its age, but I'm wondering if I should go ahead and install a distro or leave it as is. Any recommendations?

For sure, try Antix Linux! It’s known for being lightweight and should run fine on your setup without any hassle.
Lubuntu is another solid choice. It’s really user-friendly and light on resources. Definitely worth considering!
I always recommend Mint, but for your laptop's specs, the XFCE version would be best to keep it lightweight. Try it out and see how it feels!
With only 2GB of RAM, I suggest looking into lightweight options like Mint with XFCE or Lubuntu. They should keep things running smoothly on your old hardware. If you can, adding more RAM or switching to an SSD will really boost performance too!
Have you considered Debian without a desktop environment? You could install XFCE separately. It’s very barebones, which keeps the resource usage low. Just be advised, it might be a bit slow, especially since my old laptop with a similar setup takes some time to boot up.
You might also explore Void XFCE, MX Linux, AntiX Linux, or even Tiny Core and Puppy Linux. A good idea is to create a bootable USB with a few of these ISOs to test them out. Just remember to disable Secure Boot in BIOS if needed! Good luck!
