What should my friend do about the Boebera.PIF malware without wiping their PC?

My friend recently ran a Malwarebytes scan and found a malware called "Boebera.PIF". They debated completely wiping their PC, but they're hesitant and looking for other options. I found a report on Any.Run, but it seems like a serious issue. Aside from a full wipe, is there any way for Malwarebytes or other software to effectively remove this malware, or is starting fresh really the best path?

The Boebera.PIF file is serious—it’s actually a compiled AutoIT script associated with a botnet. If it’s really there, the best options are to format the computer, change all your passwords, enable two-factor authentication wherever possible, and keep an eye out for any signs of compromise. It's a bit of a hassle, but it's better safe than sorry!

Yeah, I get that! But honestly, if you're not sure about the PC's state, a fresh USB is the safest route. Backup the essentials like images and videos, but maybe avoid any executables or sensitive files until you're sure!

Gotcha! Just to clarify on formatting, can you do that using a USB created from the infected PC? They think a regular Windows reinstall might not cut it since the malware could linger.
