What Should You Do If Someone Hacks Your Windows or Mac PC?

I recently watched a video from Scammer Payback, and they managed to connect to a scammer's PC repeatedly, even after the scammer wiped his system clean to get rid of them. This got me thinking—how is that possible? Is it related to his IP address, or did a backdoor remain open? If a hacker got into my system, what steps can I take to prevent them from reconnecting? Would installing a fresh OS or just turning off my router help?

As someone in the IT field, I have to say, if you really wipe the hard drive properly—like factory-reset it or boot from an external USB to delete partitions—there shouldn't be anything left for the hacker to access. If a scammer is reinstalling an outdated or cracked OS, that's where they might leave themselves exposed. Just make sure to install a modern OS and run all the updates right away, and you should be pretty secure. Don't worry, hackers aren’t magical; they can’t just get into any device at will!

But what if they didn't wipe it correctly? Could they still access it somehow?
