What to Do If DISM Is Stuck at 62.3%?

I've been having some trouble with DISM; it's stuck at 62.3% for hours now. In the past, I had issues with corrupted files, which led me to do a repair boot. I had an update fail earlier, and I let Windows create new cache files. I ran 'sfc /scannow', but it didn't find anything wrong. My laptop is pretty slow and I suspect my internet connection is as well, but this feels like it's taking way too long! Anyone have advice on handling this situation?

Honestly, I've seen it take a long time—sometimes it’s worth just letting it run overnight. It might surprise you!

But what if it’s still stuck after a whole night? Is that normal?

If your laptop is struggling, it might be time to consider a clean install. It's often the best way to get things running smoothly again. Check out some installation guides if you're thinking about going this route!

Yeah, I get that! If your specs are really low, a clean install should be a last option, but keep it in mind just in case.

I've been stuck at the same point for hours too. I usually prefer to recover from a Windows update when things get rough, and it's saved me lots of times. Just patience is key!

Did it eventually finish, then? What do you mean by recovery from a Windows update?

It's usually a good idea to run DISM before SFC. DISM pulls fresh files, and if your sources are outdated or your internet is slow, it can take a while. If this keeps happening, it might be time for a fresh install.

Is there a way to keep my files safe, or do I lose everything with a fresh install?

How do you actually perform a wipe and reinstall?
