Hey everyone, I'm in a tough spot. My backup hard drive just got hit with data corruption and I lost about 1800GB of files. I tried using recovery mode, but the drive is pretty old and it doesn't look like anything usable can be recovered. I'm desperate for any advice on what I can do next!

Have you considered trying software like SpinRite? I’d suggest you do thorough research on any disk recovery options, though, since you might not get a second chance.
Honestly, the best bet is to buy a new drive and start transferring your data over. That way you have a fresh start. Just ensure you have a solid backup plan moving forward!
I did the same, but all my tries with the new drive were unsuccessful.
I would recommend just stopping everything related to that old drive. Don't power it up or try to access it anymore. Reach out to a data recovery company—those specialists might be able to salvage some of your files, though it can be pricey. They often have the right tools and parts to help out.
If this is just a backup drive, keep in mind that the original files might still be safe elsewhere. Maybe it’s time to just get a new drive and start fresh with your backups instead.

Tried that approach, but it didn’t work for me.
