I recently got a virus from a sketchy website while watching football, and some friends suggested I factory reset my laptop. I understand this means I'll lose my files, but I'm curious about what else I should expect. Specifically, what gets deleted, what stays, and what will I need to redownload afterward?

When you do a factory reset, it usually gives you the option to wipe your entire disk. If you choose that, it's essentially like getting a brand new computer—everything on your laptop will be deleted but anything stored in the cloud, like Google Drive, will remain intact.

Will it affect my files in Google Drive too, or just what's on the laptop?
