I'm currently developing a lightweight platform aimed at simplifying the monitoring of uptime, latency, and anomalies for websites and APIs. My frustration with complex and pricey solutions pushed me to create something better. I'm reaching out to the community, particularly DevOps engineers, to get feedback. What tools are you using for monitoring right now? Are there specific challenges you're facing that you'd like to address? Additionally, what features do you consider essential when monitoring your APIs or websites? I'd love to hear your insights and suggestions. Please feel free to be as honest as possible; I'm all ears for improvement!

I've found that having monitoring from various global data centers significantly aids in identifying regional outages and helps eliminate false alerts, saving a lot of time. Plus, having customizable alert options like SMS, email, and Slack notifications makes issue response much faster when problems arise.
Many services provide metrics like response times and error codes, and using an external blackbox exporter can help monitor the API endpoints for latency and availability. I pull this data into Prometheus and manage alerts through Alertmanager, which works great for me.
I recommend using Uptime Kuma for effective monitoring. It's user-friendly and covers a lot of the basic needs quite well.
