I graduated with a degree in Computer Science, and with straight A’s, I leveraged my university's Career Services to network and secure internships. By the time I graduated, multiple job offers were waiting for me!
I got my start when my university needed a website built, and I was the only one who knew how to do it. I think my title back then was 'internet page designer.' Those were the days of pure HTML and CSS, and it felt so rewarding to create something from scratch!
Honestly, I sent out hundreds of CVs before finally getting a response. Persistence really is key in this industry!
I played around with Drupal for a couple of years before I started calling myself a freelance web developer. It was all about building my portfolio without any formal job experience at first!
I began in an IT role, and my manager knew I had programming skills. He gave me a chance to work on a small web app for HR policies. It was a great opportunity that opened more doors for me later on!
