What’s a good budget GPU for gaming at 1440p UltraWide?

I'm looking for a budget-friendly GPU that can handle games like Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Clair Obscur. I built my PC a few years ago and here's my setup:
- Asus ROG Strix B550-E Gaming motherboard
- Ryzen 5 5600G (which has integrated graphics, but I'm not sure if that's sufficient)
- 16GB RAM at 3200Hz (2x8GB)

I plan to game on an LG UltraWide monitor with a resolution of 3040x1440 and a max refresh rate of 160Hz. Also, I've read that the integrated graphics might use some of the PCIe lanes, potentially reducing the performance of a dedicated GPU. Should I be installing the GPU in a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot instead of a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you upgrade to something like an RX 7700 XT, you're looking at a $400 investment, which feels more premium than budget. But it really made a difference for me at 1440p! Still, if you want something truly budget, you may need to compromise on performance.

Exactly, new tech costs more, but it's tough to balance that with budget constraints!

Totally get it! It’s just tough to strike the right balance these days.

If you can find a Vega 64 or GTX 1080, those are solid options around the $100 mark if you're looking for something new. Right now, the RTX 5050 is the only truly budget option in stores, but keep an eye on prices. Just remember the B580 is a good performer, but it had issues at launch, so proceed with caution.

You might be able to snag a used 3080 for about $300, and that would be hard to beat in terms of value for 1440p gaming. A 3070 is cheaper too and still performs well. Just ensure it's in good shape before buying used.

For higher resolutions and refresh rates, a budget GPU might not cut it. You should aim for something like a second-hand 4070 or a 7700 XT at minimum if you want any chance of keeping up with the latest games.

Define 'budget'? Considering you're gaming at 1440p UW, you'll want at least 12GB of VRAM for a smooth experience. A 3060 with 12GB or the Arc B580 could work as entry-level options for you. However, if your budget allows, I’d suggest aiming for a 7800 XT or 9060 XT for better performance. The lower-end GPUs might force you to drop settings quite a bit.

Yeah, I'd agree. A 7800 XT would give you a comfortable experience without compromising too much on settings.

True, but if you want to play without sacrifices, looking for a used 3080 could give you amazing value.
