What’s a good CPU upgrade from the Ryzen 5 5600X?

I'm considering upgrading my Ryzen 5 5600X, which has served me well since my build in 2021. My setup includes 16GB of RAM, a 500GB SSD, a 2TB HDD, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. While it's been performing great, I'd like to start upgrading parts of my PC. RAM prices are a bit of a hurdle right now, so I was thinking it might be time to focus on a CPU upgrade. Do you have any recommendations for a decent, budget-friendly CPU? I'm open to models that are 1-2 years old as well.

Upgrading your GPU might be the best move if gaming is your priority. The 5600X is still pretty solid, and finding a new GPU could give you the best performance upgrade.

I see what you're saying! I might focus on a GPU first.

If you already have the 5600X, the only significant upgrade you should consider is going for the 5700X3D or the 5800X3D. If those are out of budget, I'd say stick with your current CPU.

Honestly, you might get more out of upgrading your GPU instead. The Ryzen 5600X still handles games quite well, and moving to a faster GPU could improve your gaming experience more than changing CPUs.

That's a good point! I hadn’t thought about the GPU being a bigger upgrade.

If you're looking to upgrade, consider the Ryzen 7 5800X or the 5800XT. Those would give you a substantial boost. The X3D versions are great too, but they're way pricier than their standard versions.

If you're gaming at 1080p, I'd recommend saving up for something bigger, like a new GPU and monitor, rather than settling for a smaller CPU upgrade. The 5700X3D or 5800X3D are solid options, but you might want to wait until they're back in stock or more affordable.
