I've got a powerful setup with an RTX 4080 Super, Intel Core i7-14700KF, and 64GB of DDR4 RAM. Despite passing some preliminary tests for the GPU, my CPU seems to be the real troublemaker. It spikes to over 90°C when launching most games, and this leads to crashes, often before I can even get into gameplay. Occasionally, my system will hard crash and restart, but not frequently. I've updated my BIOS recently, reinstalled Windows, and used DDU for the latest Nvidia drivers. I noticed that disabling hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling let me run the Heaven Benchmark longer before a crash, but I'm still left wondering if the CPU overheating is due to something else that's hard to diagnose while my games are crashing so quickly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to lower the PL1 and PL2 wattage in XTU. A lot of people have reported it helps stabilize their systems without compromising performance. Give that a shot!
Try disabling the XMP profile and do a memory test using OCCT. Sometimes memory settings can cause crashes like this, even if everything seems okay at first glance.
If you haven't done it yet, definitely check for the latest BIOS update. Sometimes they address the underlying microcode issues. Even if you've updated it, check for a newer version that might fix existing problems. If there's been potential damage, you might need to consider RMAing the CPU.
It sounds like you might be dealing with Intel's instability problems. Can you check your BIOS version? If it’s been a while since you built your PC, the RAM is probably fine, so it might be the CPU causing issues or even overheating. RMA could be an option if it’s faulty. Let me know what BIOS version you're on!
Motherboard is Pro B760-P and BIOS version is E7D98IMS.1E0. I’ve had the PC for about two years now.
Thanks! I'll definitely look into that option.

Even after an update, previous damage can sometimes stick around. But yeah, if you suspect the CPU, RMA might be the way to go.
