What’s a realistic budget for building a PC if I already have a PS5?

I'm planning to build a PC soon but don't want to spend too much since I can already play great games on my PS5 like Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War Ragnarok. I mainly want a PC for titles that aren't available on PlayStation, like Counter-Strike 2, World of Warcraft, and to take advantage of mods for games like RDR2 and Minecraft. What kind of budget should I consider for this?

You might want to aim for a budget between $1,000 and $1,250. That should give you some solid options for a decent gaming setup.

That sounds a bit pricey to me. Since I can play all my casual games on the PS5, I don’t see the need to spend that much.

If you're looking for something that matches the PS5 experience, expect to spend over $1,000. But for more casual gaming like Minecraft, WoW, and CS2, you might manage to build something for around $700.

For comparable performance to a PS5, you could build a decent DIY PC for around $800. Prebuilts will be a bit pricier, but if you're open to buying second-hand, you could get away with a lower budget.

If you're really hunting for deals, you could snag some used parts for about $500, but it can be tough to match the PS5's performance without spending more. Think about starting with an RX 5700 XT and an i7-7700k; that's a solid base to build from!

I’m in the same boat right now, and I’ve found buying used parts is the way to go. I got a 5700x and 6700xt for just $300! I plan to grab a few new components, but overall, I should have a solid rig for about $550. You really can't beat the specs you can get with used parts on a tight budget!
