I have an old 12-year-old Iiyama 24-inch monitor that's recently started making a strange crackling sound, which sounds like arcing. I'm in the tech field but haven't encountered anything like this. Since it uses CCFL backlights, could this be a sign that the bulb is finally failing? The noise seems to be coming from the top back of the monitor, not from any speakers.

Yeah, if it’s really the CCFL, a replacement could be smart. You mentioned looking at larger monitors—maybe an upgrade to a 27-inch would be good. If it’s still working fine now, it might just be the nudge you need to get that upgrade you've been thinking about!
As someone in tech, I'd think you'd try to Google some troubleshooting tips! Still, for a CCFL monitor that's old, it might be worth considering replacing it. They can be found pretty cheap on eBay or even at charity shops for under £30.
