What’s That Unknown Icon in My Android Notification Tray?

I noticed a strange symbol in my notification tray while at college today. It appeared out of nowhere, and I figured it would just disappear, but it's still there. After a quick Google search, I found out it's related to screen mirroring, which I think I remember seeing before. The thing is, I've never actually activated screen mirroring on my phone, and I've never seen this icon before. I tend to be quite paranoid about privacy, and the thought of potentially being 'watched' makes me really anxious. Does anyone know how I can turn it off or check where it's being broadcasted? I've searched my phone's settings but can't find anything. By the way, the icon is orange on the inside, not blue like I've seen others mention, which might be due to it being an Android phone instead of iOS.

Just to add, if you want to be sure that no one is viewing your screen, you can check the active connections in the same 'Cast' section. If you see any unfamiliar devices listed, you can disconnect those too!

Thanks, that’s really helpful! I’ll check it out.

Hey! That icon is indeed the screen mirroring notification. Since you’ve never activated it, it could be stuck. Try swiping down from the top of your screen to open the quick settings and look for a screen mirroring option there. You can toggle it off if it's on. If that doesn't work, go into your settings and search for 'Cast' or 'Screen Mirroring' to find the option directly.

Good tip! Also, if it still shows up after you turn it off, consider restarting your phone. Sometimes, a fresh start clears up weird notifications.
