I've been hearing lots of chatter about the Ryzen 7800X3D as the ultimate AM4 CPU, but every time I check, it seems to be listed under AM5. This has got me all kinds of confused, especially since I don't really see why I should make the switch to AM5 right now. I'm looking for the best AM4 CPU I can get my hands on, with no budget limitations. My main focus is on gaming! Also, what's the deal with some CPUs being better for different tasks? Shouldn't the best CPU excel at both gaming and productivity?

If you're looking for the best gaming performance on AM4, I'd say the 5800X3D is your go-to, but good luck finding it since they stopped production. The 5700X3D is a close second and it's easier to track down! For productivity tasks, the 5950X shines. It really depends on what you're prioritizing, though!
The 5950X is the best all-around CPU if you're considering both gaming and productivity, but for gaming alone, the 5700X3D or 5800X3D really take the trophy. And yes, the difference in CPU architecture can make them excel in different areas due to how many cores and how much cache they have. That’s why the 5800X3D with its extra 3D V-Cache does so much better in gaming compared to the 5950X!
Interesting! So, it's really about how they're built, not just sheer power, huh?
For pure gaming, definitely go with the 5800X3D if you can find one used. The 5700X3D is also great and might be the smarter buy since it's typically cheaper. Just make sure to check that your motherboard's BIOS is updated when swapping CPUs!
I feel like the 5800X3D is still better overall, even if it's a hassle to find. Is it worth the hunt?
Yeah, I've been following the prices and the 5700X3D is getting a bit pricey too. But if you find it, it's solid for gaming!
