I have a friend looking to build a PC primarily for streaming while using a console. He's aiming to keep his budget around 700 euros. His strategy is to avoid triple-A games and generally only play light titles, so the PC won't need to handle intense gaming and streaming at the same time.
Some friends of ours are saying that with prices as high as they are, it might be unrealistic to meet that budget. They argue he shouldn't invest in a mediocre setup now if it'll need an upgrade soon. I understand their point, but if he's on a tight budget, is it really necessary to go all out?
I'm just trying to help him figure out what kind of setup he could realistically afford for basic streaming—like 1080p at 144hz with 16GB of RAM. Is 700 euros feasible for that, or what should he realistically expect to spend? Also, I'm not very knowledgeable about building PCs, so I would appreciate any guidance on good parts for his needs. Honestly, he might want to consider using a capture card with a cheaper laptop if that's currently working for him. It could save him a lot of hassle as he experiments with different setups.
Prices have skyrocketed recently! Just three months ago, 16GB of RAM was one of the cheaper components. Now, it's pretty pricey. He could likely build something decent for around 1000 euros or even less if he's okay with used parts. I've been running a used GPU for a few years, and it's still performing well! But be careful with used components unless you know what to look for.
It's tricky because games today, even smaller ones, can be memory-hungry. If he wants to stream and game, 16GB might not cut it for more intensive titles. A dual-PC setup is common for streamers, but it sounds like he just needs something functional for casual play.
