I'm trying to find a motherboard that balances price and quality for my 12th Gen i5. I want to make sure I don't miss any essential features and also keep options open for future upgrades. Any recommendations?

When it comes to upgrades, remember that your only options in the future will likely be the same 13th or 14th gen CPUs available now. So, if expandability is a priority, keep that in mind!
If you’re looking to save some bucks, you might want to skip the Intel route altogether and grab a $90 B650 motherboard with a Ryzen 5 instead!
Wait, which Ryzen 5 are you talking about?
If you’re not sure what features you might be missing, chances are you probably don’t actually need them. As long as it has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth at the very least, you should be good. Just a heads up, choosing LGA 1700 doesn’t leave much room for future upgrades—13th and 14th gen aren’t great. If you want better future CPUs, consider Ryzen.
Honestly, even the cheaper motherboards nowadays come with solid features. Think about whether you want Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, and decide between DDR4 or DDR5—those are your main choices! Also, if you plan to use onboard graphics, having two monitor outputs is a nice perk.
So, should I stress too much over my motherboard choices?

Forget about future upgrades for now—what motherboard would you actually recommend?
