The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is a fantastic upgrade for gaming at a reasonable price. If you're more into CPU-intensive games or doing productivity work, you might also consider the Ryzen 7 5700X or 5800X for the extra cores, but they will be at the higher end of your budget.
If you can get your hands on the Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5800X3D, I'd highly recommend it! The performance is definitely worth it, especially for future-proofing your setup. I've seen my 5800X starting to fall behind on newer games at higher resolutions, so those X3D models can really extend the life of your build.
