What’s the best GPU upgrade for my aging system on a budget?

I'm ready to upgrade my old GTX 1060, which has served me well for about seven years, but it's starting to show its age. My budget is around €200 to €300, and I hope to find a significant upgrade within that range. I'm a bit uncertain about compatibility with my current setup, so I'm looking for some guidance here! Just to share my specs: I have a Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, 32GB of Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 RAM, and a MPG B550 GAMING PLUS motherboard. Any recommendations?

Given your budget, I'd recommend checking out some second-hand GPUs. Something like the RX 6800 would pair well with your 5600X, and you might find a used one around your price range. Alternatively, the NVIDIA 9060 XT 8GB is also a solid choice for a significant upgrade on your system. It's worth keeping an eye on local markets for those deals!

I've seen good deals on used GPUs lately, so definitely keep your options open. You might get lucky!

It's good to know that your CPU won't be a bottleneck, just focus on getting something efficient!

The 9060 XT 8GB for about €330 is currently the best option for performance in your budget. If you can afford a bit above your range, it really is a fantastic choice. It'll deliver much better performance than your old 1060!

I'm hearing great things about the 9060 range! Might be the way to go.

Definitely consider it, especially for modern games!

If you can stretch your budget even a bit, look out for an RTX 4060 Ti; you might find one used for around €300. It's an excellent card for your setup. But if you're looking for something more affordable, the B580 is a great new option, and should fit your price bracket!

I love the 4060 Ti! Great choice for pushing into higher resolution gaming.

A second-hand card like the 6700 XT could work too if you're okay with used!

I think you should prioritize getting a newer GPU with solid VRAM rather than just looking at VRAM size. I'd suggest something with at least 8GB of VRAM if you want to game comfortably at higher resolutions.

The trade-off is worth it for sure, especially with how games are evolving!

Exactly! Going newer often means better tech beyond just VRAM.
