What’s the best hands-on learning platform for coding?

I'm trying to enhance my programming skills, and I've realized that just watching videos isn't effective for me anymore. They seem fine while I'm watching, but I don't retain much without actually coding and solving problems. I'm on the lookout for an online platform that's very hands-on and encourages you to build projects, make mistakes, and think critically about solutions. Ideally, it should focus on backend programming or general fundamentals, rather than just superficial examples. Has anyone found a platform or course that genuinely helps with learning by doing? I'd love to hear your experiences, both good and bad.

You might want to look into Hyperskill or Boot Dev as well, especially if you prefer working on specific projects.

The Odin Project is a great option, especially if you're just starting out. It's well-structured for beginners.

I totally relate! Watching videos can feel productive, but the learning doesn't truly stick. I found that things started clicking for me once I spent more time actually writing code, messing things up, and debugging. Working on small projects helped me understand backend stuff better.

For a more hands-on experience, I'd recommend diving into projects that interest you and just getting into the coding directly.

If you're looking for a platform that really makes you code, I suggest checking out Boot Dev. It focuses on backend fundamentals and pushes you to solve problems and create projects instead of just following along passively. I liked that it doesn't rely on lengthy videos, so you have to think through your solutions.
