What’s the best lightweight option for hosting a static website?

I'm currently using a basic Alpine image for a Node server, but I'm thinking about switching to something better suited for static website hosting, maybe an Nginx image? Any recommendations for lighter options or best practices for serving static content?

If your site is truly static, you might want to skip containers altogether. Just build your static files and push them to a CDN; it's often more efficient. Plus, CDNs handle distribution really well!

For hosting static content, you can use any web server image like Nginx, Apache, or even Caddy. They’re all great for serving HTML, CSS, and JS. Just pick whichever you feel comfortable with!

If you're looking for something lighter than Alpine, you could check out Caddy. It's pretty user-friendly, supports automatic HTTPS, and doesn’t require much setup, making the deployment process a breeze!

When you say 'better,' what are you really looking for? It really depends on your needs and what you expect from a web server. There's a lot of discussion on web development and hosting options, so it'd be a good idea to explore those too!

I've had good experiences with the joseluisq/static-web-server:2-alpine image. It's really light and fast, and I’ve been happy with how it performs for my static sites!
